Analyse & report on system processes
If you look through the various downloads here on vnunet.com, you'll notice that we spend time discussing how your PC can slow after you've spent time installing, using and then removing software. You know the scenario: you purchase your new PC, it has a completely defragmented drive and clean Registry. It boots quickly, operates smoothly and there is little delay opening big applications. Six months later, you're waiting for it to boot and everything seems a little sluggish. First port of call is to defragment your hard drive. Check. You've done that. The next is to optimise you Registry. You could then sort out problematic startup applications. Ok, what's next? You could try and analyse the applications you have running on your system when it slows, to try and find the reason behind the problem. ProcessScanner is a free tool from Uniblue that enables you to analyse open applications and processes and then will check them against processlibrary.com, which is a collection of various processes, how they apply to your machine and if they are a problem. You can't fix or do much with ProcessScanner, but it does enable you to analyse a potential problem.
